Pine car racing is a hobby that dates back to 1953. Cub Scout leader Don Murphy invented pine car racing to help boys learn about woodworking and sportsmanship.
Literally anyone! Whether you kept your old pine cars or your kids build new ones now, you and your kids can race in our event. We even have a class for LEGO® cars and cars that use compressed CO2, RC car motors, and RC plane fans! Even if you don't build a car before the race, you can still enter with in the Pinewood Pro® Time Challenge class!
Depends on which class you want to race in.
To race in a Vintage class, you need an old car. You can tell a car's age by looking at its wheels. See photos.
To race in the Brick Derby™, you need a Pinewood Pro Brick Derby™ chassis. You will build your car with your own LEGO® or LEGO-compatible bricks.
To race in the Pinewood Pro™ Time Challenge class, you only need to show up. We'll provide a kit and access to all the tools you need to build your car.
You can buy everything you need to race in Scout Stock at PinewoodPro.com!
Early Vintage wheels are thin with large round hubs.
Mid Vintage wheels have a spoke design and no lettering on thick "tires".
Rules vary by class. Click here for the Common Rules. View the Classes for specific allowances.
The entry fee is $20 for all classes except the Time Challenge class, which is $40 because it includes an all-in-one kit (which retails for almost $30).
